Having already completed the top panels for the base, I needed to add some detail panels to the sides. Back to the Dremel router table...
Here you can see the Before and After shot - it's amazing what a small piece of red plexi can do to give life to an otherwise boring side panel.
You will also note that at this point I added some dark window tinting film to the inside of all the clear panels. The black contrasts with the red plexi really well, and almost instantly the whole case looks fifty times more sinister.
Now it was time to deal with the edges of the plexi. I couldn't leave the edges exposed because the window tint doesn't cover this very well. The solution was to make a thin aluminium framework out of some old aluminium profiles I had lying around. The profiles were 30x30mm square and I only needed 7x7mm, so some cutting was required, as you can see in the photo!
The end result was worth it though.
At this stage, I could really start to get the feel of what the case would look like, but much work still remained...
